Your role as a Transport Team Leader
Overview
We are looking for a proactive and experienced Transport Team Leader to join our team in Corby, supporting the consistent delivery of an efficient and compliant transport operation. Working within a time‑critical environment, you will monitor live operations using our Transport Management System (TMS), respond to delays or breakdowns, and support the effective utilisation of vehicles and trailers across the shift.
This is a great opportunity for someone with a background in transport operations who is looking to step into, or progress within, a team leadership role.
Location: Corby
Salary: Up to £35,000 per annum
Shift Pattern: 4 on 4 off, 06:30 to 18:30 (day shift)
Key Responsibilities
- Monitoring the TMS departures board to ensure timely vehicle departures, escalating delays where appropriate.
- Overseeing factory collections, verifying punctuality and completeness, and maintaining customer communication.
- Liaising with the fleet department regarding vehicle defects, repairs and substitutions throughout the shift.
- Communicating accurate inbound ETA updates and maintaining visibility of trailer availability.
- Preparing and distributing clear handover reports to the incoming shift, identifying key actions and outstanding issues.
- Escalating operational risks or significant incidents promptly to Transport Supervisors or senior management.
- Ensuring compliance with relevant legal and regulatory standards, including EU Drivers' Hours and the Working Time Directive.
- Supporting the resolution of employee relations issues, including holding or assisting with disciplinary or investigatory meetings.
What We Are Looking For
- Minimum of 3 years' experience in transport operations.
- Experience in FMCG is required.
- Experience in a supervisory or team leader capacity.
- Knowledge of EU Drivers' Hours and Regulations.
- Strong communication and reporting skills.
- Ability to manage operational pressure and prioritise tasks effectively.
- Further education in Logistics or Transport Management is desirable.
- Transport Manager CPC qualification is beneficial.
