Your role as a Transport Operator:
We are seeking a proactive and detail-orientated Transport Operator to join our Transport team. Reporting to the Transport Manager, this role is responsible for managing outbound logistics, supporting drivers, and ensuring operations run smoothly and efficiently. The successful candidate will demonstrate strong organisational skills, excellent communication abilities, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
Location: NewCold Corby, NN17 5XN.
Shift Pattern: Monday to Friday, 06:00 - 14:30.
Salary: Up to £30,750.00 (DOE).
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver clear and comprehensive driver briefings before each shift.
- Monitor and adjust transport schedules to ensure inbound collections, factory clearance and outbound deliveries are met.
- Carry out administrative traffic duties accurately and efficiently.
- Proactively identify and resolve potential scheduling issues in advance.
- Work collaboratively with the wider traffic team to coordinate operations effectively.
- Escalate vehicle accidents promptly and accurately report details.
- Engage with customers professionally to resolve enquiries and support excellent service.
- Meet weekly and monthly KPI targets, escalating challenges where required.
- Use IT systems including Transport Management Systems (TMS) and tracking tools to maintain accurate data and reporting.
- Record and manage driver absences, maintaining up-to-date records for operational planning.
- Verify driver licences and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
Requirements:
- 5+ GCSEs (or equivalent).
- Further qualifications in logistics or a related field are advantageous.
- Previous experience in transport logistics, administration, or customer service within a fast-paced environment is preferred.
- Strong attention to detail with the ability to prioritise and multitask.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the confidence to work with drivers, customers and colleagues.
- Good IT skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a collaborative team.
- Transport Manager CPC is desirable but not essential.
