Your role as a Transport Operator

Location: NewCold Corby, Curver Way, NN17 5XN.

Shift Pattern: Nights, 4 on 4 off (18:30 to 06:30).

Salary: £30,750.00 per year.

What We Are Looking For

  • 5+ GCSEs or equivalent, with additional qualifications in logistics being advantageous.
  • Prior experience in transportation logistics, administrative support, or customer service in a fast paced setting is advantageous.
  • Strong attention to detail and organisational skills, with the ability to multitask and prioritise effectively.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to interact professionally with drivers, customers, and team members.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and other computer applications.
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a team in a fast paced environment.
  • Transport Manager CPC would be desirable, though not essential.

The Role

You will conduct end of shift debriefs with drivers, gathering feedback, discussing any incidents or delays, and confirming route completion. At the start of each shift, you will brief drivers on route instructions, schedules, customer requirements, and safety protocols.

Day to day, this includes verifying driver licence validity to ensure compliance with internal and regulatory requirements, processing delivery notes, POD documents, and associated transport paperwork accurately and within deadlines. You will record driver absences, escalating any patterns of concern where required, and monitor and input non-conformance issues into the system for resolution tracking. You will liaise closely with the wider traffic and transport planning team to address operational issues in real time, support customer service engagement when needed, and maintain comprehensive logs while ensuring the secure handling of all documents and sensitive data.
