Your role as a Driver:

As an HGV Driver at NewCold, you will play a crucial role in our operations. We are looking for dedicated drivers able to work a minimum of 12 hours a shift. If you are a skilled HGV Driver looking for a rewarding career, read on!

We have multiple vacancies across various shifts, including:

  • Mon‑Fri: 04:30, 06:00, 07:00, 08:00, 08:30
  • 4 on 4 off: 02:00, 02:30, 03:00, 03:30, 04:00, 10:00, 11:00
  • Tramping: 23:59

Pay Rates:

  • Day Rate: £15.55 per hour
  • Night Rate: £18.06 per hour
  • Saturday Rate: £16.79 per hour
  • Sunday Rate: £18.06 per hour

Example: A Monday to Friday night shift working 12‑hour days equates to an annual salary of £56,346.89. Opportunity for extra shifts, each attracting an additional £70 shift bonus.

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct daily vehicle checks in line with company standards and legal requirements, reporting defects promptly
  • Ensure all paperwork is completed accurately and submitted on time
  • Load and secure deliveries and collections to maintain temperature and safety standards
  • Participate in pre‑ and post‑shift briefings, keeping the traffic office updated on delays, incidents, or accidents
  • Drive safely and legally, protecting both the public and the reputation of NewCold
  • Maintain a clean and tidy work environment, including trailers and units
  • Download and manage tachograph data in line with company procedures
  • Follow company rules, policies, and procedures at all times

Requirements:

  • Valid HGV Class C + E licence
  • Driver CPC qualification, or willingness to obtain with full support from NewCold
  • Minimum of 2 years' Class 1 HGV driving experience
  • Strong communication and problem‑solving skills
  • Reliable, accountable, and committed to delivering results safely and efficiently
