Your role as a Transport Team Leader (Nights):
We are looking for a proactive and organised Transport Team Lead (Nights) to join our dynamic transport division. In this role, you will support the Transport Manager in overseeing night operations, ensuring all transport movements run smoothly, factory clearance is achieved, and customer orders are delivered on time and within budget. You will play a key part in maintaining exceptional service standards while managing resources effectively.
- Location: Corby, NN17 5XN
- Salary: Up to £40,000 DOE
- Shift Pattern: 4 on 4 off, 42 hours per week
- Hours: Nights, 18:30 - 06:30
- Reports to: Transport Manager (Nights)
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage the daily transport plan using relevant software, ensuring accurate resource allocation.
- Coordinate with the warehouse to ensure loads are managed in line with the plan.
- Communicate delays promptly to stakeholders and manage live load monitoring.
- Audit driver packs and ensure drivers are fully briefed before departure.
- Monitor transportation schedules and proactively address potential issues.
- Oversee front desk administration and maintain accurate records.
- Manage POD processes and elevate issues where necessary.
- Interact with customers to resolve queries and maintain strong relationships.
- Produce detailed shift reports and deliver accurate handovers.
- Verify driver licence validity and ensure compliance with legal and safety regulations.
- Complete sickness and absence reports, return-to-work interviews, and support investigations.
- Prepare incident reports, including RTCs, staff injuries, and near misses.
What We’re Looking For:
- Qualifications & Experience:
- Previous experience in a similar transport role is essential.
- Strong knowledge of transport planning and operations.
- Computer literate with experience using transport software.
- Understanding of driver hours regulations and working time rules.
- Good UK geographical knowledge and ability to estimate journey times.
- Transport Manager CPC is desirable.
