We are seeking a highly skilled and detail‑oriented European Planner. This key operational role requires a strong understanding of European and international customs regulations, as well as the ability to manage customs documentation and coordinate shipments across road, short sea, deep sea, and air freight.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan and manage European road freight and short sea import/export shipments, ensuring timely and compliant delivery.
  • Prepare and manage customs documentation, including import/export declarations, transit documents, certificates, tariff classifications, and VAT/duty paperwork.
  • Ensure compliance with UK, European, and international customs regulations and Incoterms.
  • Liaise with customs authorities, brokers, carriers, and freight partners to resolve clearance or operational issues.
  • Monitor shipments and proactively address delays or documentation queries.
  • Maintain accurate, auditable customs and shipment records.
  • Support process improvements and collaborate on deep sea, air freight, and multi‑modal transport solutions as required.

Requirements

  • Proven experience in European import/export planning across road freight and short sea operations.
  • Hands‑on experience managing customs documentation for European and international shipments.
  • Strong knowledge of customs regulations, HS codes, Incoterms, duties, and VAT/excise requirements.
  • Confident communicator, able to liaise with customs authorities, freight partners, and clients.
  • Highly organised, with strong attention to detail.
  • Full UK driving licence with flexibility to travel within the UK.
  • Occasional overseas travel may be required as part of this role.
  • GCSEs in English and Mathematics (Grade C/4 or above), or equivalent.
  • Experience with deep sea and air freight operations and international trade compliance frameworks.
  • Familiarity with customs and freight management systems.
  • Ability to work proactively and independently, with strong problem‑solving and analytical skills.
  • Adaptable and resilient, able to perform effectively in a fast‑paced logistics environment.
  • High attention to detail with a strong commitment to accuracy and compliance.
  • Experience mentoring or supporting others on customs procedures is advantageous.
