Overview

We are seeking an Assistant Planner to support the smooth and efficient coordination of logistical activities across the operation. You will play a key role in planning and organising all necessary activities to ensure client orders are processed accurately and the logistical process runs seamlessly.

Location: Wakefield

Shift Pattern: Monday to Friday (Night Shift) 20:00pm-05:00am

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the coordination and scheduling of orders using the warehouse management system.
  • Work closely with the Planning Manager and wider planning team to ensure activities are completed in line with client and haulier agreements.
  • Issue process orders to forklift truck drivers and pickers.
  • Monitor schedules and make adjustments where required.
  • Maintain daily communication with clients, hauliers, and their representatives regarding progress, priorities, anomalies, and operational issues.
  • Identify and escalate issues to the Planning Manager.
  • Assist with investigations and adhoc customer restacks.
  • Process administrative information relating to logistical activities.
  • Monitor and manage the planning email inbox.
  • Provide support across warehouse planning, export works, and customer communications.

Requirements

We’re looking for someone with previous planning and customer service experience, ideally within a logistics or warehouse environment. You should be confident using warehouse management systems and Microsoft Office, with strong communication, organisational, and multitasking skills. The ability to work in a fast‑paced environment, manage changing priorities, and communicate effectively with clients, hauliers, and internal teams is essential. A proactive approach, attention to detail, and the ability to support the wider planning operation are also important for success in this role.
