Reports to: Engineering Manager.

Role

Overview: We are seeking a skilled and proactive Engineer to join our team at a state‑of‑the‑art automated cold storage facility.

This role involves performing both planned and reactive maintenance at heights up to 120 ft and in temperatures as low as –23 °C, ensuring the warehouse operates at peak efficiency.

Key Responsibilities

  • Equipment Maintenance: Maintain and operate systems such as conveyors, cranes, cooling systems, and oxygen reduction systems in accordance with supplier guidelines.
  • Planned & Reactive Maintenance: Conduct routine inspections, preventative maintenance, and timely repairs to minimize operational disruptions.
  • Performance & Efficiency: Achieve key performance indicators while staying within budgetary constraints.
  • Compliance & Safety: Follow structured maintenance plans to maintain compliance with supplier guidelines and ensure minimal operational impact.
  • Supplier & Warranty Management: Arrange service visits and maintenance to keep warranties valid.
  • Operational Support: Assist warehouse operators in maintaining efficient logistics workflow.
  • Inventory Control: Monitor, manage, and order spare parts as needed while staying within policy and budget.
  • Reporting & Communication: Provide clear and timely reports to the Engineering Manager.
  • Energy Optimization: Continuously seek and implement energy‑saving initiatives to improve sustainability and cost‑efficiency.

Qualifications & Experience

Essential

  • NVQ Level 3 in Multi‑Skilled Engineering or Electrical Engineering (or equivalent).
  • Apprentice‑trained background in engineering.
  • Experience in an FMCG automated warehouse environment.

Desirable

  • Cold store & ammonia plant experience.
  • Experience working at heights.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem‑solving skills.
