Role Description

This is a full-time, on-site Field Service Technician role based in Greater Manchester.

The Field Service Technician will install, configure, and maintain marking and coding equipment, including inkjet printers, laser markers, and labelling systems on customer production lines.

Daily tasks include diagnosing technical issues, performing repairs, carrying out preventative maintenance, and ensuring equipment operates efficiently and in compliance with relevant standards.

The role involves travelling to customer sites, documenting service activities, providing technical guidance and training to operators, and collaborating with the engineering and customer service teams to resolve complex issues.

The technician will also support parts sourcing, consumables management, and contribute to continuous improvement of service processes.

Qualifications

  • Technical skills in installing, troubleshooting, and repairing industrial equipment (e. g., inkjet printers, laser markers, thermal transfer and labelling systems).
  • Experience with electrical and mechanical systems, including basic electronics, wiring, and mechanical assembly and alignment.
  • Strong diagnostic and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify root causes and implement effective solutions on-site.
  • Customer service and communication skills to explain technical issues clearly, build rapport, and provide training to operators and supervisors.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical documentation, schematics, and manuals, and to maintain accurate service records.
  • Comfort working on production lines and in manufacturing environments, adhering to health, safety, and quality standards.
  • Valid UK driving licence and willingness to travel across Greater Manchester and surrounding regions for site visits.
  • Relevant technical qualification or apprenticeship in engineering, electronics, or a related field; prior field service experience is highly beneficial.
  • Proactive, organized, and able to work independently, with flexibility to support emergency repairs and occasional out-of-hours calls.
