We are looking for a proactive, detail-focused, and motivated individual with a can-do attitude to join the Education team of Newcastle Law School. The role involves providing comprehensive administrative support for research programmes, alumni relations, event organisation, social media content creation, web editing, purchasing, student employment processes and reception cover. You will also act as School Safety Officer, first aider, fire marshal and DSE assessor.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Provide a professional and proactive service to students and academic colleagues, responding to queries and requests quickly and efficiently and referring onwards where appropriate.
  • Support the administration and delivery of education and student experience related activities, e.g. induction, scholarship administration, employability opportunities, alumni relations.
  • Take the lead on administrative support to colleagues and students including purchasing, coordinating events and internal and external communications.
  • Develop, implement and maintain effective office procedures and systems that ensure support is efficient, timely and accurate.
  • Act as secretary to meetings, arrange rooms, prepare and circulate agendas, take minutes and monitor action progress.
  • Understand and implement relevant policies and procedures.
  • Work as part of a wider Law School professional services team and undertake other duties within the scope and general nature of the grade.

Knowledge, Skills and Experience:

  • Good IT skills with experience of the Microsoft suite of programmes.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to tailor messages to audiences.
  • Ability to follow and implement policies and procedures.
  • Ability to use initiative and judgement to resolve problems independently.
  • Ability to work calmly under pressure and manage competing deadlines.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Administrative experience including general meeting support, diary management and enquiry handling.
  • Ability to train, develop and manage other staff.
