The Role
Do you have experience in marketing and student recruitment, with the ability to deliver engaging campaigns and content that drive results? Are you collaborative, creative and motivated by ambitious strategic goals? If so, we would welcome your application. This is an opportunity to join the Faculty of Science, Agriculture and Engineering (SAgE) at an important point in the development of our marketing and student recruitment activity, helping to showcase our education, research and innovation to prospective students in the UK and internationally. You will work as part of a highly skilled team, with a particular focus on promoting programmes from the School of Natural and Environmental Sciences. The successful candidate will play a key role in attracting and converting undergraduate and postgraduate students through effective marketing activity, campaign delivery and content development. You will bring experience of managing a team, using data and insight to demonstrate impact, and building strong working relationships with a wide range of stakeholders. This appointment is part-time (29.6h/pw) 80% FTE and offered on a fixed-term basis (up to 31 December 2027) with an immediate starting date.
Key Accountabilities
- Lead, develop, implement and evaluate effective student recruitment marketing plans to attract and convert home and international, undergraduate and postgraduate students.
- Lead, plan, deliver and evaluate student recruitment marketing campaigns/activities, reporting on their impact for supporting application generation/conversion and ensuring best use of resource and value for money.
- Commission and oversee a range of data analysis and market intelligence/research activities to inform product development, marketing planning and messaging.
- Work with academic colleagues/current students to identify subject strengths and develop messaging for use in marketing collateral and campaigns.
- Plan and oversee the development of content for use across a variety of channels (digital and print) ensuring it is informed by market insight, engaging and employs SEO principles and accessibility in order to maximise reach.
- Act as the point of contact for an Academic School in the delivery of marketing activities by providing expert professional advice and guidance to support with meeting student recruitment targets.
- Act as the Faculty lead on cross-University marketing projects/activities including attendance at planning meetings, member of steering groups/workstream committees and updating Faculty colleagues - ensuring actions are completed to specified deadlines.
- Manage and develop a small team which involves setting objectives, overseeing and reviewing workload and progress, identifying training needs and carrying out development reviews.
- Represent the Faculty and University at student recruitment events where appropriate.
- Work closely with colleagues across the University to ensure consistency, coherence and impact of approach across all student recruitment marketing activity.
- You will be required to be flexible and adaptable as priorities and responsibilities may change as the Faculty, Academic Schools and the University respond to sector changes.
- The post holder will be expected to undertake any other duties appropriate to the grade as requested.
The Person - Knowledge, Skills And Experience
- Experience of working in a marketing and/or student recruitment role.
- Experience of developing and implementing marketing plans and campaigns.
- Experience of using data to report on marketing activities to showcase impact/make improvements.
- Experience of managing/supervising a team of marketing and/or student recruitment professionals.
- Excellent experience in creating accessible and impactful content with strong copywriting, editing and proof‑reading skills.
- Outstanding stakeholder management experience with the ability to lead multiple projects at the same time and develop effective relationships with colleagues.
- Experience of working in the higher education sector within a marketing or student recruitment role is advantageous.
