The Role
We are seeking to recruit an enthusiastic Lecturer in Accounting (Teaching and Scholarship) to contribute to delivery and development of our undergraduate and postgraduate accounting programmes. We are particularly interested in applicants with expertise in one or more of the following areas: financial accounting and reporting; audit and assurance; non-financial reporting (ESG/sustainability reporting); financial management; and business case studies.
You should either hold a professional accounting qualification (e.g., ICAEW, ACCA, CIMA) or a PhD in a relevant accounting discipline (or be nearing completion). You must demonstrate a clear commitment to developing your profile in teaching and pedagogic scholarship. We are keen to hear from you if you have a proven ability to deliver high-quality teaching in accounting and to contribute to the advancement of pedagogic practice in the discipline. We particularly welcome applications from those with experience of teaching for professional accountancy body examinations such as ICAEW, ACCA and CIMA.

- To provide high quality teaching and learning and student support
- Mentor and support students throughout their studies in the role of personal tutor
- Set and mark assessment of modules in accordance with University standards and utilise on-line and digitised curricula and education frameworks

- Contribute to the scholarly and practice profile of the Business School by engaging in scholarly research and activities, engagement, practice, CPD and external funding
- Demonstrate impact by developing practice-based solutions to real-world problems, produce scholarly outputs and engage with external stakeholders to develop the impact of your work

- Contribute to the Business School Vision, Mission and Strategy
- Operate as an active citizen in the Business School community

In addition to providing evidence of your previous experience of the criteria above, to be considered for a Grade G Lectureship you must also meet the following criteria:
- Substantial experience of designing and delivering high quality teaching and learning material, resources and activities for students in academia or professional accounting education
- Substantial experience in teaching for professional accounting body examinations (e.g. ICAEW, ACCA, CIMA)
- A track record of engaging with external stakeholders, generating real-world impact from research
- Evidence of your potential contribution to the Accounting and Financial Management Subject Group or discipline
- Ability to undertake a management and leadership role
- Evidence of active academic citizenship and/or engagement with professional accounting bodies
Qualifications
- Lecturer Grade F
A good Honours degree (or equivalent)
Plus, one of the following:
- PhD (or equivalent) at or near completion (strictly within three months of submission at time of application) in a relevant subject; or Professional accounting qualification e.g. ICAEW, ACCA, CIMA
- HE teaching qualification (or equivalent experience)
- Lecturer Grade G
A good Honours degree (or equivalent) HE teaching qualification (or equivalent experience)
Plus, one of the following:
- Completed PhD (or equivalent) in a relevant subject; or Professional accounting qualification e.g. ICAEW, ACCA, CIMA
