This role is part of the NIHR Newcastle Patient Safety Research Collaboration (PSRC), focusing on patient safety and integrated care for patients with multiple long‑term conditions (MLTCs). The position is part‑time (16 hours per week) and fixed term until 31 March 2028.
Main Duties
- Support the Research Lead with data collection, analysis and report writing for various projects within the PSRC.
- Assist with study set‑up, protocol design and methodological planning.
- Help design and pilot appropriate methods for data collection.
- Schedule data collection, analysis and writing for one or more concurrent studies.
- Collect data using qualitative and quantitative methods as per protocol.
- Design appropriate databases for data management and analysis.
Key Accountabilities
- Contribute ideas, including technical and methodological enhancements, under PI guidance.
- Work in clinical/hospital environments with patients and staff.
- Record qualitative data, conduct interviews, observe practice.
- Collaborate with national research teams.
- Engage in public/patient involvement and engagement (PPIE).
- Develop and carry out the specified project using appropriate techniques.
- Assess findings for further investigation needs.
- Contribute to writing up research for publication and dissemination.
- Present findings at conferences and in reputable outlets.
- Supervise or support undergraduate and postgraduate research projects.
- Interact with academic members and support staff.
- Participate in events celebrating public engagement of science and social sciences.
- Develop awareness of university structures, policies and higher education issues.
- Ensure compliance with secure data handling.
- Work with data engineers on functionality and user‑friendly digital tools.
