The Role
The EPSRC has renamed the previous EPSRC DTP Doctoral Prize Fellowships as DLA Postdoctoral Pathway Fellowships (DLA PPF).
The Fellowship includes a 24-month fixed-term academic salary based on Grade F, point 27, £35,116, plus a research project budget (to be calculated and requested during your application in discussion with your project sponsor) with a maximum of £15,000. Additional project funds can also be sought outside of the EPSRC DLA grant.
To be eligible, applicants must have received EPSRC funding during their PhD studies. This includes candidates recruited via the Doctoral Training Partnership (DTP) and Centres for Doctoral Training (CDTs). EPSRC-funded candidates not currently based at Newcastle University are also welcome to apply.
Applicants should propose a novel research project within the EPSRC’s funding remit here. The fellowship aims to develop independent researchers who are encouraged to explore new research areas and demonstrate independence from their PhD supervisors. The position offers opportunities to publish key PhD work, develop research networks, facilitate knowledge transfer, and engage in outreach activities.
Applicants should identify an appropriate academic staff member, the ‘Project Sponsor,’ who must be a Newcastle University employee. Applicants should approach their potential sponsor before applying to discuss their research proposal. The sponsor must support the project and host it in their research facilities if appropriate.
Fellowship recipients may also have an independent mentor to provide advice and support throughout the award. Newcastle University is committed to supporting career development, including periodic review meetings and assistance with post-fellowship opportunities.
The applicant must provide the following documents via the Newcastle recruitment system:
- A brief academic CV including two referees’ names
- Previous qualification certificates and transcripts
- A letter of support from the academic sponsor
- The completed research proposal proforma (see link below)
