Clinical and Anatomy Teaching Fellows

The Role

We are recruiting Clinical Teaching Fellows and Anatomy Teaching Fellows for our Newcastle, UK campus. This post is offered on a one-year fixed term contract commencing in August 2026, with potential for a second year subject to satisfactory performance. We require highly motivated and enthusiastic doctors who will be an important part of the School of Medicine team in Newcastle.

• You will be involved in the delivery of our MBBS curriculum to year 1 and 2 medical students for clinical skills or anatomy teaching.
• You will have the opportunity to contribute to education research projects and to the development of teaching and learning activities and resources.
• You will also be offered the opportunity to undertake the Certificate in Clinical Education.

You are expected to have an MBBS degree and to be clinically active, with relevant experience in the NHS, and to have completed your Foundation training (or equivalent) by August 2026. There are no clinical, patient-facing duties within this role.

Key Accountabilities

• Work as part of a team of teaching fellows who contribute to developing, coordinating and delivering the undergraduate teaching programme at Newcastle.
• Predominantly teach small groups in the classroom, clinical skills centre or anatomy department.
• Provide pastoral support and academic mentoring to students.
• Engage in medical education research under supervision from senior colleagues.
• Conduct assessment of clinical skills, including both written and practical (OSCE) examinations.
• Contribute to faculty development opportunities, including peer observation of teaching.
• Undertake other teaching, academic and administrative duties as necessary.
• Undertake the Newcastle University Postgraduate Certificate of Medical Education during this period.

The Person (Essential)

• Medical Degree.
• Full registration with the UK General Medical Council.
• Successful completion of UK Foundation training (or equivalent) by August 2026.
• Experience of being clinically active in the UK's NHS within the last 5 years.
• Knowledge of clinical skills and anatomy in current medical practice.
• Experience of teaching MBBS or other students.
• Willingness to engage in continuing professional development.
• Excellent organisation, communication and interpersonal skills.
