South Tyneside Educational Psychology Service is a friendly, highly supportive and nurturing team of educational psychologists, specialist teachers and emotional resilience officers. The Service is very well regarded by its users, as is evident from the consistently excellent feedback it receives. It maintains highly positive working relationships with schools, other professionals and the Local Authority.

We are looking to appoint an Assistant Educational Psychologist to join the team. This post is suitable for a keen, enthusiastic and conscientious individual who is looking to develop a career as an educational psychologist. This post would be suitable for somebody already working within an education setting or with some experience of working with children and young people. This post has been created as part of the development of a school well-being hub pilot project.

The successful candidate will deliver a range of work as part of this project as well as working within our team of educational psychologists. This will provide the opportunity to engage in a broad variety of activities, including training, therapeutic work, systemic work and research, using a range of different psychological tools and methods. As well as working with our team of educational psychologists, you will also have the opportunity to work into the emotional resilience team where you will be able to become involved in a range of different work to help support children and young people with their ability to manage adversity.

You must have a good honours degree in Psychology and a keen interest in undertaking formal training to become an educational psychologist. This post has been funded externally for the duration of the school well-being hub pilot, and is therefore fixed term for 2 years.
