Roles:
- Research Assistant (Assistant Clinical Trials Statistician) – work on several clinical trials within our portfolio under the supervision of a more experienced colleague. The role involves ensuring trials are conducted and analysed to the highest standards, applying appropriate methods to improve design, conduct and analysis of trials.
- Research Associate (Clinical Trials Statistician) – collaborate on several clinical trials, ensuring they are conducted and analysed to the highest standards, and applying innovative methods to improve design, conduct and analysis of trials.
- Senior Research Associate (Senior Clinical Trials Statistician) – lead the statistical aspects of several clinical trials, advise clinical investigators in new grant applications as a specialist statistical advisor for the NIHR Research Design Service, develop future clinical trials as a co‑applicant in research grants, and apply innovative methods to improve design, conduct and analysis of trials.
The role requires experience in clinical trials; further training and career development are encouraged and supported.
The Biostatistics Research Group Newcastle University’s Biostatistics Research Group (BRG) is a dynamic group of 26 applied and methodological biostatisticians who develop and implement state‑of‑the‑art statistical methods in health research. The BRG is part of the Population Health Sciences Institute and works closely with the Newcastle Clinical Trials Unit (a UKCRC registered unit) and several UK and international institutions. We currently have over 30 ongoing trials and offer opportunities at all levels to be involved in the design and conduct of future clinical trials and research. Training is provided depending on experience, and we actively encourage and support career development.
Applications for part‑time/flexible working are welcome; please state your desired working arrangements in your application. These are full‑time fixed‑term posts for a duration of 3 years.
Salary:
- Research Assistant: £28,756 – £30,497 per annum
- Research Associate: £31,406 – £40,927 per annum
- Senior Research Associate: £42,149 – £50,296 per annum
