About the role

As a Sessional Coach (U9–U10 Foundation Phase), you will assist in implementing the Academy coaching curriculum and contribute to the development of players within the Foundation Phase age groups.

Working with players aged 9–10, you'll help create a positive, engaging and challenging learning environment that supports both player development and enjoyment of the game.

You'll work under the guidance of the Lead Phase Coach and Head of Coach Development, ensuring sessions are delivered in line with the Academy's coaching and playing philosophies.

  • What you’ll do
  • Support the planning, preparation and delivery of engaging, enjoyable and technically accurate coaching sessions for U9–U10 Foundation Phase players.
  • Effectively coach, mentor and develop players within the Foundation Phase age groups.
  • Lead coaching sessions when required.
  • Implement the Academy playing philosophy and coaching principles consistently.
  • Work collaboratively with multidisciplinary colleagues to support player development objectives.
  • Assist with player review meetings, individual learning plans and progress tracking.
  • Support team and squad selection discussions ahead of fixtures.
  • Ensure coaching, game-time and player development records are accurately maintained in line with EPPP requirements.
  • Foster a safe, inclusive and enjoyable environment that supports the holistic development of young players.

Essential criteria

  • UEFA B Licence (FA Advanced Coaching Licence).
  • FA Safeguarding qualification.
  • FA Basic First Aid for Sport qualification.
  • FA Licensed Coaches Club membership.
  • Experience working with players within the professional game.
  • Excellent communication, listening and presentation skills.
  • Understanding of EPPP and the audit process.
  • Knowledge of safeguarding, welfare and equality practices.
  • Competency in Microsoft Office and Apple software packages.
