Newcastle United Women are seeking a committed and motivated Sessional Physiotherapist to join our Performance Team. This is a key role in delivering elite-level medical support to our Women’s First Team, ensuring players receive the highest standards of care in injury prevention, diagnosis, treatment, and rehabilitation. You will work as part of a progressive multi-disciplinary team, contributing to the physical development, performance, and wellbeing of our players as we continue to build and grow an ambitious, high‑performance environment.
Your Impact
- Support the development, organisation and implementation of player treatment and rehabilitation programmes.
- Deliver expert assessment and diagnostic services, creating individualised treatment plans for First Team players.
- Assist in managing physiotherapy and soft-tissue resources to ensure effective allocation across the squad.
- Provide pitch-side medical support and daily pre‑training cover for training sessions and matchdays.
- Lead on pre-match medical preparation, on-field first aid, and post‑match recovery processes.
- Complete and maintain accurate injury profiling, sharing updates with relevant medical and performance staff.
- Deliver high-quality clinical care in line with professional standards and contribute to clinical audit and quality assurance processes.
- Ensure personal qualifications remain current and compliant with regulatory bodies.
- Accompany injured players to specialist appointments where required.
- Undertake any other reasonable duties in line with role requirements.
Qualifications, Skills & Experience (Essential)
- Sc in Physiotherapy
- Member of CSP
- Valid and up-to-date emergency aid qualification
- Significant experience as a physiotherapist within elite or professional sport.
- Experience designing and delivering Return to Play protocols.
- Resilient, calm under pressure, and adaptable in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong communication skills with a high degree of empathy.
- Collaborative approach to working within a multi-disciplinary team.
- Ability and flexibility to work evenings, weekends and travel to fixtures, including overnight stays.
- Strong organisational and data management skills.
- Experience using electronic medical note systems and athlete monitoring platforms.
