About the role

As Lead UK Academy Scout, you will operate within the Club's scouting framework, profile and methodology to lead and drive the Talent Identification process for potential targets within the youth recruitment department.

Working closely with the Head of Academy Recruitment, First Team and Emerging Talent recruiters, and Scout Analysts, you will focus on UK and European academy players, lead and manage the UK Lead Scouts, and support detailed decision-making within a highly competitive area of recruitment.

What you'll do

  • Lead and organise scouting structures and processes to ensure effective weekly and monthly coverage of potential targets.
  • Manage the North and South UK Lead Scouts to support regular cross-checking and assessment of potential players.
  • Ensure detailed Talent ID information is recorded, stored and shared quickly with key staff.
  • Work with the Recruitment Operations Manager and Academy Technical Scout to produce records of coverage, data and scouting performance.
  • Create high-level reports for key stakeholders on talented young players across the UK and Europe.
  • Use scouting and video platforms to provide insight into UK and European markets.
  • Review player options proposed by scouts, agents and other sources to determine suitable opportunities.
  • Collaborate with Emerging Talent, First Team, Data and Insights teams to align scouting strategies and ensure highlighted players are covered.
  • Maintain up-to-date target lists to support positional analysts and scouts.
  • Build strong working relationships across Academy Recruitment and Emerging Talent to align processes, protocols and information sharing.
  • Support the development of the future Academy Recruitment strategy plan.
  • Undertake any other reasonable duties.
