About the role
We’re looking for an experienced and passionate U21’s Head Coach to lead the development of our next generation of elite female footballers at Newcastle United Women. This is a key role within our Academy, responsible for delivering a high-performance environment that supports players’ technical, tactical, physical and psychological progression, while preparing them for transition into the first team.
What you’ll do:
- Lead the delivery of the NUW Academy playing philosophy, aligning closely with first team principles and style of play.
- Plan, deliver and review high-quality coaching sessions in line with the Academy curriculum.
- Manage the team on matchdays, including tactical planning and in-game decision making.
- Monitor player development, providing feedback, setting targets and supporting progression pathways.
- Contribute to performance reviews and maintain accurate player records via club systems.
- Work collaboratively with multidisciplinary staff to support player performance, injury prevention and rehabilitation.
- Support the transition and development of players moving into first team environments.
- Drive performance outcomes across the pathway, including progression into senior football.
Experience and Qualifications:
- FA Level 3 / UEFA B Licence (or above).
- Experience coaching talented young female players within a professional environment.
- Strong understanding of youth player development, including physical and psychological needs.
- Excellent communication, organisation and interpersonal skills.
- Knowledge of safeguarding, welfare and equality standards.

You will work closely with the NUW Academy Manager and wider Academy leadership team, contributing to a collaborative and high-performing coaching and development function.
