Newcastle United Women are looking for an experienced Performance Nutritionist to lead our nutrition strategies and support player development, health, and performance.

About the role

As our Performance Nutritionist, you’ll play a crucial role in optimising the nutritional intake and strategies of our team. Working alongside a multi-disciplinary team, you will design and implement nutrition plans, provide individual support to players, and oversee post-match recovery protocols. Your expertise will help enhance key physical attributes such as speed, stamina, strength, recovery and body composition, ensuring our players perform at their absolute best.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and deliver tailored nutrition programmes for players, including one-to-one consultations and group education sessions.
  • Collaborate with catering teams to ensure the provision of high-quality, nutritious meals in line with performance needs.
  • Support players during match days and recovery periods with evidence-based nutritional interventions.
  • Maintain records of all nutrition interventions and track measurable outcomes.
  • Provide nutrition guidance for injured players and support rehabilitation programmes.
  • Ensure compliance with UKAD anti-doping regulations and liaise with medical staff.
  • Continuously develop and innovate nutritional strategies to improve team performance.

Essential Qualifications and Experience

  • Degree in Sports Science or related discipline, plus an MSc in Sports & Exercise Nutrition with SENr accreditation.
  • Proven experience working with elite athletes, particularly female footballers.
  • Strong understanding of the physiological demands of high-performance sport and nutrition’s role in maximising success.
  • Experience working in a multi-disciplinary team within a fast-paced environment.
  • Knowledge of sports supplementation, recovery strategies, hydration, and body composition analysis.
