We are looking for a passionate and knowledgeable football professional to help us nurture talent and support performance on and off the pitch. This role plays an important part in delivering high standards, supporting player development, and helping us create the best possible environment for success across the Club.
This is a rare opportunity to combine front‑line first team matchday responsibility with long‑term player development in one of the most ambitious football environments in the country. As Academy and First Team Tunnel Doctor, you will play a critical role in protecting player welfare, delivering exceptional medical care, and supporting performance at every stage of the pathway.
You will work within a highly skilled, multi‑disciplinary medical and performance team, providing expert sports and general medical care to Academy players while acting as Tunnel Doctor at First Team home fixtures, where calm judgement and clinical excellence are essential.
You will:
- Deliver high‑quality medical care to Academy players, prioritising health, wellbeing and safe participation
- Act as First Team Tunnel Doctor at home fixtures, including the assessment of potential concussive injuries and video review where required
- Diagnose, manage and support the treatment of illness and injury across the Academy programme
- Contribute to emergency action planning, pitch‑side trauma care and medical screening in line with EPPP standards
- Work collaboratively with coaches, physiotherapists, sports scientists and senior medical colleagues
- Maintain accurate medical records in line with GMC, FA and Premier League requirements
- Uphold the highest standards of professional conduct, confidentiality, safeguarding and data protection
Essential Requirements
- Medical degree (e.g. MBBS or equivalent)
- Full and active General Medical Council (GMC) registration
- Licensed medical practitioner in good standing with the GMC
- Advanced Trauma and Medical Management in Football (ATMMiF) qualification (or actively working towards)
- ATMMiF pitch‑side qualification
- Commitment to continued professional development
- Flexibility to work evenings, weekends and matchdays as required
Desirable Experience
- Diploma or specialist qualification in Sports & Exercise Medicine or Musculoskeletal Medicine
- Membership of the Faculty of Sports and Exercise Medicine (MFSEM)
- Experience working within an elite or professional sporting medical environment
