Are you driven by the desire to improve all aspects of housing, strengthen communities, and shape high-quality services that protect the public and the environment? If you’re looking for a role where your leadership truly makes a difference, this is your opportunity. We’re looking for an inspiring and motivated professional to join us as our Housing & Vulnerability Business Manager — a key role at the heart of several vital, interconnected services.

You’ll oversee a portfolio that includes housing enforcement, disabled facilities grants, Newcastle housing advice, homelessness, and vulnerability services. Working alongside experienced lead officers, you’ll make sure our statutory duties are met while also driving innovation, shaping policy, and maximising funding opportunities to elevate the services we deliver.

What matters most is your energy, curiosity, and commitment to learning, along with a passion for developing services during a period of significant change, including the rollout of the Renters Rights Act and the future Local Government Reorganisation. This is a chance to take a leading role in creating safer, healthier, and more resilient communities. If you’re ready to step into a position with real influence and purpose, we’d love to hear from you.

Responsibilities:
  • Oversee a portfolio including housing enforcement, disabled facilities grants, Newcastle housing advice, homelessness, and vulnerability services.
  • Work with experienced lead officers to ensure statutory duties are met.
  • Drive innovation, shape policy, and maximise funding opportunities to elevate services delivered.
Requirements:

An environmental health qualification — or an equivalent background — would be ideal to support the enforcement aspects of the role. You don’t need experience in every service area.
