We have an exciting opportunity for a committed and enthusiastic Elections Officer to join our team. This role places you at the heart of the council, supporting our residents and ensuring community participation in the democratic process. You will support the Elections Manager in the provision and maintenance of an accurate, up-to-date electoral register in an efficient and effective manner and assist in the organisation and management of all types of elections, parish polls and referenda in accordance with the relevant legislation. In addition, you will take responsibility for the recruitment of staffing for elections and the annual canvass.

Requirements

  • You will have experience of working within an elections environment.
  • Possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills with all types of service users and have the ability to utilise effectively a range of PC-based systems.
  • At certain times you will be required to work long hours (including evenings and weekends) and under pressure as necessary to ensure deadlines are met.
  • You must have or be willing to undertake the AEA qualification and have a good knowledge of policy and procedure in local government and electoral requirements including absent voter systems.
