Head of Quality and Compliance

  • Location: Hybrid remote – Some national travel required (4-5 times per month)
  • Job Type: Full-time
  • Salary: Up to £45,000

About the Training Provider:
This Ofsted-rated “Good” training provider is on a mission to achieve an “Outstanding” rating within the next three years. They specialise in Leadership and Management Training across both apprenticeships and commercial training.

The Role: Head of Quality and Compliance
Reporting to the Operations Director, this senior role is pivotal in shaping the organisation’s future by ensuring exceptional quality, compliance, and customer experience while driving business growth and regulatory excellence.

Key Responsibilities

Quality & Compliance Oversight:

  • Lead all aspects of quality assurance, compliance, and funding within apprenticeship and funded programme delivery.
  • Prepare for and manage Ofsted inspections, ESFA financial audits, and external quality assessments.
  • Act as the Ofsted Nominee, when required.
  • Oversee subcontracted provision, ensuring high standards are maintained.
  • Maintain policies, processes, and procedures aligned with ESFA & Ofsted guidelines.

Apprenticeship Strategy & Curriculum Development:

  • Provide expertise in curriculum design to ensure high-quality, compliant, and fundable provision.
  • Work closely with End Point Assessment Organisations (EPAOs) to optimise learner outcomes.
  • Own and drive the Self-Assessment Report (SAR) and Quality Improvement Plan (QIP).
  • Ensure learner assessments and evidence are accurately recorded for compliance.
  • Develop and implement Internal Quality Assurance (IQA) strategies.

Leadership & Stakeholder Management:

  • Lead, coach, and develop a high-performing Quality & Compliance team.
  • Build strong relationships with employers to drive apprenticeship success.
  • Represent the organisation in industry meetings and partnerships.
  • Deliver training sessions for staff, employers, and learners to promote best practices in apprenticeship delivery.

Data & Continuous Improvement:

  • Collect benchmarking data to drive quality improvements.
  • Analyse ILR funding and compliance data to minimise errors and clawback risks.
  • Ensure all apprentices achieve their full potential, including functional skills attainment.
  • Provide monthly performance reports to internal stakeholders and clients.

Business Growth & Commercial Viability:

  • Support the Operations Director in ensuring the financial sustainability of apprenticeship provision.
  • Assist in business development efforts to enhance services for key clients.

What We’re Looking For:

  • Proven experience in Quality Assurance & Compliance within a training provider or education setting.
  • Strong understanding of Ofsted, ESFA funding, ILR compliance, and apprenticeship levy requirements.
  • Knowledge of experiential leadership training from graduate to board level.
  • Ability to develop and implement comprehensive quality assurance frameworks.
  • Strong commercial awareness and a data-driven approach to funding and compliance.
  • A natural leader, capable of influencing senior stakeholders and inspiring teams.
  • Passion for learning, development, and leadership training.
  • Excellent interpersonal and relationship-building skills.
  • Own transport and flexibility to travel with occasional overnight stays.
