The Air Traffic Engineer will manage, maintain, install, and repair all types of air traffic services communications, navigation & surveillance equipment. They will also be responsible for aerodrome equipment, including airfield ground lighting (AGL), ensuring that a high quality customer focused and compliant service is delivered that meets with regulatory and legislative requirements.

What will you be doing?

• Examine, inspect and report thoroughly on the condition and safety of equipment used for the provision of an Air Traffic Service by carrying out functional testing and applying appropriate diagnostic techniques.
• Examine, inspect and report thoroughly on the condition and safety of equipment used for AGL and other aerodrome equipment by carrying out functional testing and applying appropriate diagnostic techniques.
• Perform equipment maintenance.
• Diagnose the causes of malfunctions within equipment and systems used to provide air traffic services and AGL.
• Interpret and implement technical service data and statutory and regulatory standards to ensure that all work is performed in excess of the minimum standards defined.
• Carry out modifications to equipment/systems to suit the needs of the airport or its business partners and regulatory requirements.
• Liaise with ATC, external service providers and other customers in order to coordinate the release of equipment/systems for servicing and repair.
• Communicate with ATC, external service providers and other customers in order to provide status of equipment/systems and progress reports for ongoing tasks.
• Utilise IT systems to develop documentation, provide statistical information for Key Performance Indicators and record all work done etc.
• Support the SATE in the timely and efficient delivery of projects and to ensure that the department meets with its legal and statutory obligations as regards to the mitigation of security, health, safety and environmental risks.
• Support the development of trainees and new ATE recruits by providing training and mentoring as required.

Key Skills & Experience

• Qualified Air Traffic Engineer.
• Proven aviation experience.
• A strong background in ILS Operations and Maintenance is desirable.
• Safety first attitude.
• Customer focused mindset.
• Operation of computer systems related to the provision of ATC services as well as common office software.

Qualifications

• ATSEP (Air Traffic Safety Electronic Personnel) Qualified.
