The purpose of this role is to develop and support software solutions to meet the needs of the Newcastle Building Society (NBS) Group. You are responsible for developing high quality software through working both independently and as part of a team. You will analyse business requirements, design and specify program changes, code the solutions and provide implementation and post implementation support as required within agreed timeframes, procedures and standards.

You will play a key role in the development of systems requirements within the NBS Group. Undertake systems analysis, design and specification of new and existing system changes whilst maintaining high standards of software development in accordance with agreed standards change control procedures. You are expected to prepare relevant documentation for change implementation in accordance with agreed standards and timescales, communicating implementation schedules to business stakeholders and provide post implementation user support for system changes and ensure that any problems are identified and appropriate remedial action is taken.

Assisting in the evaluation of external software solutions when required, undertaking research into new technology and promote awareness of new developments which may be applicable to the Group.

About You

You should be educated to degree level, or equivalent, in a related subject and bring a solid base of technical and business knowledge to your role. You have strong programming skills, including program design, working with relevant languages, framework environments, and design patterns, supported by good database and application knowledge. Knowledge of production platforms used by the NBS Group (IBMi and Microsoft .Net) is desirable, along with an understanding of financial services and the business context in which solutions are delivered.
