Overview

Newcastle College is seeking a dedicated Specialist Support Practitioner, trained to a minimum Level 2 in BSL, to support students with sensory impairments, including d/Deaf and vision impairment. You will be at the heart of student success and will deliver targeted support and contribute to inclusive learning and access to campus and curriculum.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver high quality one to one or small group support to students
  • Support inclusive learning
  • Help students access campus and curriculum
  • Support awareness raising and understanding of access and inclusion

Qualifications

  • Level 2 British Sign Language (BSL) qualification and willingness to work toward Level 3
  • Level 2 English & Maths (or equivalent)
  • A warm, adaptable, and enthusiastic individual
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • A commitment to inclusive education and student wellbeing
  • Flexibility to work evenings and support off-site provision
