Hours: 37.0 hours per week (split shift)

Relief Facility Supervisor will provide caretaking and facility management in the Facility Services Division of Operations and Regulatory Services Directorate.

Facility Services and Civic Management work across the city and Gateshead providing building cleaning, caretaking, school meals and welfare catering services. Our team includes cleaners, cleaner supervisors, facility supervisors (caretakers), catering assistants, assistant chefs and chefs working various hours and shifts in schools and public buildings. We are committed to delivering a high standard of service to our customers, investing in our staff and staff development.

What We Are Looking For

  • Team player who can work independently and take initiative
  • Good relationship building skills with colleagues, children and parents
  • Self-motivated and able to work to fixed deadlines
  • Flexible approach to work, hours and locations
  • Customer focused and able to deliver to required standards
  • Suitable to work with children and young people
  • Capable of regular stooping, bending, lifting and carrying equipment, materials and furniture
  • Able to follow written and spoken instructions and speak English
  • Able to travel citywide between 06:00 and 19:00 and undertake a split shift schedule

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure the security of premises, set alarms and address general health and safety issues related to the building
  • Perform a range of porterage duties
  • Supervise cleaning staff and designate cleaning areas
  • Manage varying workloads and maintain a defined cleaning area
  • Adjust to key events in the school calendar such as remedial works, parents’ evenings, governing body meetings, Christmas and summer fairs
  • Manage time effectively and meet deadlines
  • Maintain positive relationships with staff, children and parents in busy school environments
