To work in the busy and bustling SEND Information, Advice and Support Service in Newcastle. The service has a reputation for prompt responses, solution-focused working practices, excellent working relationships with schools, settings, the Local Authority and other bodies.

The Post

The SENDIASS team provide impartial information, advice and support for children, young people and parents/carers on legislation, policy and practice in relation to SEND.

The SENDIASS officer will undertake casework with parents and carers of children with SEND. They will provide up to date and accurate information relating to SEND and high-quality support and empower parents to be actively included in decisions.

The work is challenging and stimulating and will suit a candidate who has:

  • Detailed understanding of current SEND legislative framework, particularly affecting SEND processes, admissions, exclusions and appeals.
  • A good understanding of the needs of families with children who are disabled or have Special Educational Needs & Disabilities (SEND)
  • Excellent, proven leadership skills with the ability to inspire and support
  • Excellent communication skills both written and verbal
  • A passion for achieving positive outcomes for children and young people.
