The Transport division are committed to delivering services that will help Newcastle develop into the UK’s safest, most accessible, and best integrated multi‑modal carbon‑efficient transport system, thereby ensuring the future economic growth of the city.

Our Traffic Signals Team, part of Network Management and Construction, maintains and installs traffic signals not just in Newcastle but across the region over seven local authorities. Traffic Signals play a crucial role in managing road traffic and improving safety and efficiency on our roads across the Northeast region.

We have excellent expertise across the Transport division and are committed to delivering resilient, customer‑focused and high‑quality services.

The Role:

If you aspire to really make a difference and are passionate about delivering effective services, then working as an Estimator and Surveyor within our Traffic Signals team could be the place for you. This is an exciting time to be joining the team as we are working to deliver major transport improvement schemes with partners both in Newcastle and the other northeast local authorities.

We are seeking an enthusiastic, self‑motivated Estimator and Surveyor. The role will be involved with all stages of Traffic Signals projects, working closely with designers, managers and stakeholders to ensure estimates, works orders and claims are accurately recorded and then invoiced to relevant stakeholders following final measures of the completed projects.

The successful post holder will have a proven track record and recent experience of working across all estimating and surveying functions. We are looking for someone with a detailed knowledge of highway design and construction, who can engage with clients at all stages of their project to provide professional advice, and has experience of preparing and processing valuations, final accounts and contractual claims.

You will be confident and competent in using IT systems to record and implement actions, be able to work unsupervised and manage your own workload.
