We’re looking to recruit the next generation of Environmental Health Officer to join our team. Have you ever wondered what an Environmental Health Officer does? If yes – then read on!
Responsibilities
- Inspecting and licensing private sector houses to check them against legal standards
- Interrupting criminal landlords
- Visiting different areas of the City to look at interventions to improve living conditions
- Dealing with anti-social behaviour issues
- Advising landlords to help them trade fairly
- Working with partners to protect residents from frauds and scams
- Investigating rogue landlords, preparing criminal cases, and giving evidence in court
Qualifications
- A degree in Environmental Health
- Completion of registration with the Chartered Institute of Environmental Health and passed the competence framework as a registered environmental health practitioner
- Communication skills – listening, spoken and written
- ICT skills – Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint & Excel)
- Team player who is not afraid to try something new
- Commitment to own personal and professional development
- The ability and desire to learn, and the capacity to understand and interpret complex legislation
- First class communication and customer service skills, high attention to detail, and great organisational skills
- Perseverance, patience, the awareness to quickly read situations, and the ability to remain calm in sometimes difficult circumstances
