Newcastle City Council is looking for a motivated and commercially minded Commercial Property Officer to support the management and development of the Council's commercial property portfolio, including retail markets, enterprise centres and other commercial assets. This is an exciting opportunity to work within a varied and dynamic service that plays an important role in supporting local businesses, generating income for the Council and contributing to the economic vitality of the city. Working alongside the Commercial Property Manager, you will help ensure the effective operation of our commercial properties, support the delivery of markets and events, develop stakeholder relationships and contribute to the continued success of our enterprise centres and commercial assets. What You Will Be Doing As a Commercial Property Officer, you will:

  • Support the management and development of the Council's commercial property portfolio.
  • Assist in the operation and promotion of the City's street and event markets.
  • Support the development and delivery of services within Newcastle's enterprise centres.
  • Help ensure commercial properties and facilities are operated safely and effectively.
  • Develop relationships with tenants, traders, businesses and other stakeholders.
  • Assist with the procurement and management of contracts relating to markets and commercial activities.
  • Monitor budgets and expenditure in line with Council financial regulations.
  • Carry out inspections of buildings and facilities and coordinate actions required to address issues identified.
  • Support income generation initiatives and help identify opportunities to maximise commercial performance.
  • Develop and maintain social media and promotional activities to support markets and enterprise centres.
  • Contribute to policy development and service improvement initiatives.

  • Experience working within commercial property, asset management, markets, business support, facilities management or a related environment.
  • Strong organisational and administrative skills.
  • Experience of managing relationships with customers, businesses or stakeholders.
  • Good commercial awareness and an understanding of income-generating services.
  • Experience of monitoring budgets and expenditure.
  • The ability to manage multiple priorities and work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
  • A proactive approach to service improvement and customer service.
