Sir Charles Parsons is a fully subscribed LA Maintained Specialist Provision for young people aged eleven to nineteen years old who have a range of additional needs including profound and multiple learning difficulties, complex health issues and disabilities. The school currently provides education for 210 students, including a sixth form provision which caters for forty. The school moved in June 2011 into a new purpose built Privately Financed Initiative building, which provides outstanding facilities for young people with additional needs. These facilities include specialist art, food technology, music and computing classrooms as well as a swimming pool and a hydrotherapy pool. Additional on‑site education hubs have been recently added to take our Planned Place Number from 150 to 210.

The students, governors and staff wish to appoint an enthusiastic, highly motivated and inspirational practitioner to the post of Assistant Head Teacher. This is an excellent opportunity for a highly skilled and experienced professional to work closely with the Head Teacher and Senior Leadership Team in a dynamic and forward‑looking school which is constantly challenging itself to improve the quality of its provision.

The successful candidate will have experience of working with young people who have profound and multiple learning difficulties and will work well as part of a multi‑disciplinary team. They will be an excellent classroom practitioner and will have a teaching commitment.

We are strongly committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people. The successful candidate will be required to undergo a range of recruitment checks and to obtain an Enhanced Certificate of Disclosure from the DBS. As this post involves working with children, vulnerable adults or dealing with sensitive information, written references will be taken up and made available to interviewers before the final selection, even if you indicate otherwise.
