Contract Type: Permanent

Working Pattern: 10 hours per week

Salary: Β£24,309 pro rata, per annum (Β£12.60 per hour inclusive of Real Living Wage)

Location: St Michael's RC Primary School, Clumber Street, NE4 7RE

Working Hours: 11:30 to 1:30pm Monday to Friday, Term time only

This role will aim to commence September 2025 (pending DBS and recruitment checks).

What we are looking for:

We are currently looking for reliable and friendly people with a positive attitude to join our School Meals team as a Catering Assistant. No experience is necessary as full training will be provided. We have various hours and locations currently available.

About the role:

Working as a team and using your own initiative, daily duties will involve:

  • Washing catering equipment and undertaking general cleaning of the kitchen.
  • Assisting the chef with food preparation and maintaining hygiene standards within service deadlines.
  • Assisting with the tidiness and presentation of the service area, serving food to the children and providing a brief description of the meals available.
  • Cleaning the dining room, setting up dining room furniture and clearing away equipment and materials.

This will involve regular stooping, bending, lifting and carrying.

We have a large team of cleaners, cleaner supervisors, facility supervisors (caretakers), catering assistants, assistant chefs and chefs working various hours and shifts in schools and public buildings.
