City Operations, Neighbourhoods and Regulatory Services Directorate / Facility Services & Civic Management
1 x 12.50 hours per week – Monday to Friday, 11:30am to 2:00pm, Term time only, at Gosforth Junior High Academy, Regent Avenue, NE3 1EE
What we are looking for: We are currently looking for reliable and friendly people with a positive attitude to join our School Meals team as a Catering Assistant. No experience is necessary as full training will be provided. We have various hours and locations currently available.
About the role: Working as a team and using your own initiative, daily duties will involve:
- Washing catering equipment and undertaking general cleaning of the kitchen.
- Assisting the chef with food preparation maintaining hygiene standards within service deadlines.
- Assisting with the tidiness and presentation of the service area, serving food to the children and providing a brief description of the meals available.
- Cleaning the dining room, setting up dining room furniture and clearing away equipment and materials.
This will involve regular stooping, bending, lifting and carrying.

We have a large team of cleaners, cleaner supervisors, facility supervisors (caretakers), catering assistants, assistant chefs and chefs working various hours and shifts in schools and public buildings. Our service is committed to delivering a high standard of service to our customers and in doing so investing in our staff and staff development.
