Overview
An exciting opportunity has arisen to join Discovery Museum’s curatorial team as Assistant Keeper (History) on a ten month fixed term contract. Reporting to the Keeper of History you will support the development of the first temporary exhibition Things That Go; a transport themed exhibition intended to appeal to families with children under 11. The exhibition will launch in Discovery Museum’s brand new temporary exhibition gallery, in May 2026. You’ll contribute to the planning of further exhibitions in that space and in addition, you will organise two late night events aimed at 18 to 30 year olds.
Responsibilities
- Assist with the development and delivery of the first temporary exhibition Things That Go; a transport themed exhibition for families with children under 11, launching May 2026 in the museum’s temporary gallery.
- Contribute to the planning and delivery of additional exhibitions in the same space.
- Organise two late night events aimed at 18 to 30 year olds.
Qualifications and Experience
- Demonstrated enthusiasm for history curatorship and experience in exhibition curation and events work.
- A knowledge of north east history is desirable.
