We are currently looking to recruit a permanent Assistant H&S Officer.
The post holder will work as part of a friendly team in the Council’s Corporate H&S function covering Operational H&S, Strategic H&S and Learning & Development.
The post offers flexible and hybrid working from home and based in the office at the Civic Centre, Newcastle. The post will involve travel to and from sites typically within the Newcastle area.
The successful candidate will be involved in supporting H&S Officers deliver a wide range of H&S functions including: the review of corporate policies, development and review of risk assessments and H&S website content, delivery of face fit testing, training design and delivery, development and delivery of targeted H&S audits and initiatives, provision of H&S advice to managers in different risk areas of the business, and accident screening and investigations across a range of council service functions.
The successful candidate should hold the NEBOSH Health & Safety General Certificate and an NVQ level 4 as part of their general qualifications.
Ideally the successful candidate will have some experience in providing health and safety advice or implementing safe systems of work in a working environment
The successful candidate will be funded and should be willing to study for the NEBOSH Health & Safety Diploma. It is desirable that they also hold a relevant L3 fire safety risk assessment qualification and/or the NEBOSH Construction Certificate.
