What will I be doing?
You will be based at City Transport’s depot near Newcastle city centre. The team provides a wide range of services across Newcastle City Council departments and outside organisations. You will assist the Business Development Officer in their duties. As an apprentice, you will learn on the job while being mentored by experienced staff. You will gain knowledge in fleet administration, procurement of vehicles and plant machinery, and related services supplied to various departments across the council.
What will I need?
Level 2 qualifications in Maths & English (equivalent to GCSE grade 4 / C or above).
What will I receive in return?
We will support you in learning new skills and thriving in your role, undertaking a Level 3 Apprenticeship Qualification in Business Administration. Apprentices are paid a percentage of the salary for the role they are working towards, which is at least the National Minimum Wage and increases each year. This apprenticeship is working towards the full role of Business Development Officer (N7 grade, starting salary £35,235). In Year one, you will be paid 60% of the salary rate or NMW, whichever is higher. In Year two, you will be paid 65% of the salary rate or NMW, whichever is higher. While a post in the role you’re working towards isn’t guaranteed, apprentices are supported to apply for suitable vacancies after completing their apprenticeship to utilize their new skills and qualifications.
