You’ll join the senior leadership team within the Adult Social Care and Prevention directorate, working closely with our community social work service. Our approach is rooted in strengths-based, person-centred practice, recognising the skills, relationships and resources that people and their neighbourhoods bring. We focus on supporting individuals to live the lives they choose, in the places they call home.

What about the Role(s)?

We are looking for a qualified (appropriate social work qualification), experienced and compassionate Social Work Service Manager to lead and inspire our community social work teams. This is an exciting opportunity to shape high-quality, person-centred services for adults across Newcastle. You will bring strong leadership, a commitment to social work values, and a deep understanding of how to support people with dignity, respect and choice.

You will:

  • Provide operational and strategic leadership to community social work teams
  • Champion person-centred, strengths-based practice across the service
  • Support staff to work creatively with individuals, families and carers
  • Ensure practice reflects the Care Act, safeguarding responsibilities and the Mental Capacity Act
  • Promote a culture of high performance, professional accountability and continuous learning
  • Manage budgets responsibly and ensure services offer value for money
  • Work collaboratively to deliver positive outcomes for people across the city

We are looking for someone who is motivated, reflective and committed to ensuring that every person we support is treated as an individual with their own goals, strengths and aspirations.

What you’ll need

  • A recognised Social Work qualification (MA/BA Social Work, DipSW, CQSW or CSS)
  • Registration with Social Work England
  • Significant management and leadership experience within Adult Social Care
  • Strong knowledge of adult legislation, safeguarding and best practice
  • A values-driven approach that puts people at the centre of decision-making
