Newcastle City Council (City Transport) are seeking an experienced time served Heavy Goods Vehicle technician to take up a permanent position.
City Transport maintains and repairs a diverse range of heavy & light vehicles, plant and horticultural equipment as well as having two MOT stations, testing class 4, 5 & 7 vehicles, licenced taxis and hackney carriages.
We are looking for someone with the skills and experience to achieve the effective and efficient maintenance, diagnostics and repair of the council’s plant, horticultural equipment & Large Goods Vehicle (LGV) fleet, including an understanding of DVSA & Operators Licence standards enabling them to prepare & present LGV’s for MOT.
Ability to work to deadlines whilst consistently producing good quality work in a safe manner at all times. Join us as a permanent member of our team, primarily in our Heavy workshop at Newington Rd.
You will have served a recognised apprenticeship in motor vehicle engineering to NVQ level 3 or equivalent. A category B driving licence is essential. Categories C LGV licence or hold a valid MOT tester qualification being advantageous.
