Newcastle City Council are currently looking for reliable and friendly people with a positive attitude to join our Facility Services team as a Cleaner. No experience is necessary as full training will be provided. This is a site-specific advert for our school Cleaning roles. About the role:
Working as a team and using your own initiative, daily duties will involve cleaning designated areas such as corridors, classrooms, offices and toilet areas using required equipment. Whilst working to fixed deadlines, responsibilities include emptying bins, mopping and vacuuming floors, so regular stooping, bending and lifting will be required. To carry out these tasks, candidates will need to have a basic understanding of both written and spoken English due to the use of chemicals. This post is working in regulated activity. If you are successful, we will undertake additional recruitment checks which will include a DBS check (Data and Barring System) to see if you have had any criminal convictions, a check of police information and we will check the barred list(s). It is a criminal offence for a barred individual to apply for a job in regulated activity. In order to complete a DBS check you will have to provide us with ID documents to allow us to process your checks. Please make sure you check the list of acceptable ID attached to this advert. You will not be able to start this role without a DBS and you cannot complete a DBS without the relevant ID so this is essential.

We have a large team of cleaners, cleaner supervisors, facility supervisors (caretakers), catering assistants, assistant chefs and chefs working various hours and shifts in schools and public buildings. Our service is committed to delivering a high standard of service to our customers and in doing so investing in our staff and staff development.
