This role blends technical expertise with people leadership. You’ll lead, organise and manage software development activity within an agile environment, ensuring delivery is efficient, well-governed and aligned to business priorities. From resource planning and workload management through to implementation and post-release support, you’ll play a pivotal role in the end-to-end delivery lifecycle.
You’ll be responsible for leading and developing a team, creating an environment where individuals are engaged, supported, and empowered to perform at their best. This includes regular coaching, performance conversations, and fostering a culture of continuous improvement.
Key aspects of the role include:
- Planning and allocating work to optimise team performance and meet delivery timelines.
- Monitoring progress, managing risks and clearly communicating updates to stakeholders.
- Maintaining high standards across the full software development lifecycle (SDLC), including secure development, testing and documentation.

- Helping shape best practice in a fast-paced, agile delivery environment.
About You
We are looking for a strong technical leader with a passion for delivering high‑quality software and developing others. You should bring a balance of hands‑on technical understanding, strategic thinking, and the ability to inspire and lead teams to deliver meaningful outcomes.
With experience of leading or managing teams within a technical or software development environment, you will have a strong understanding of software development methodologies and the full SDLC. You’ve worked effectively in Agile frameworks such as Scrum or Kanban and bring solid technical knowledge across programming, system design, and modern development practices. Being comfortable working within project teams, collaborating closely with internal stakeholders and external partners, and you understand the importance of risk and control when working in regulated environments; financial services experience is a bonus.
Alongside your technical background, you bring excellent leadership and organisational skills, with a genuine ability to motivate, support, and develop others. You should be able to manage multiple priorities, remain effective under pressure, and communicate with confidence, able to influence, challenge, and engage stakeholders at all levels. You have a keen eye for detail, a strong commitment to quality and continuous improvement, and the ability to see the bigger picture by understanding the business impact and risk of technical decisions. Most importantly, you enjoy working collaboratively and being part of a team that learns, grows, and succeeds together.
