Job Description

About the role

Would you like to be part of a team that has won Best Regional Building Society for 9 consecutive years? A team that values maintaining financial advice on our high streets for local communities.

Do you thrive in a face-to-face, customer-focused environment?

If yes, our Customer Adviser role could be perfect for you.

You will engage with customers daily, listening carefully to understand their financial needs and goals.

Responsibilities include opening and setting up tills, making customer appointments, processing transactions, assisting with savings accounts, cashing up, and closing at day’s end.

We also value team bonding, so taking time to socialize with colleagues is important to us.

The hours are 21 hours per week: Monday, Thursday, and Friday from 9 am to 5 pm, plus Saturdays on a rota basis, typically until 12 pm.

About You

Excellent people skills and relationship building are essential.

Strong listening and empathy skills are also important.

You should enjoy working closely with colleagues to deliver outstanding customer service and support our Society’s needs.

No prior financial services experience is required, but a desire to learn and develop new skills is crucial.

We offer a tailored 12-week training program, development discussions, and career growth opportunities.

About Us

As an inclusive, member-owned mutual, we aim to reflect the diverse communities we serve. We encourage applications from all backgrounds and value everyone’s unique contributions.

Benefits include:

  • Competitive salary based on above-market scales
  • Bonus scheme (target 5%, up to 10%)
  • Pension scheme (up to 9% employer contribution)
  • Performance-related pay reviews
  • Colleague mortgage scheme
  • Electric car salary sacrifice
  • Life assurance (4x salary) and income protection
  • Access to financial advisers
  • High street and online discounts

Work/Life Balance

  • 21-hour weekly contract
  • 25 days’ annual leave plus bank holidays (rising to 30 with service)
  • Option to buy/sell up to 5 days’ holiday
  • Enhanced family leave benefits

Health and Wellbeing

  • Health cash plan via Medicash
  • Employee assistance program
  • Free onsite gym and discounted gyms
  • Two paid volunteering days annually
  • Cycle to work scheme
