The post holder will be responsible for providing high-quality technical support within the Food Technology Department, supporting staff and students during practical lessons and activities. Duties will include:
- Preparing, maintaining and organising food ingredients, materials and kitchen equipment.
- Ensuring all kitchen areas are safe, clean and compliant with health and safety and food hygiene regulations.
- Supporting students during practical sessions, including those with additional needs.
- Monitoring and managing stock levels, liaising with suppliers, ordering ingredients and ensuring correct storage in line with food safety standards.
- Supporting the practical and technical delivery of lessons, including preparing resources, maintaining equipment, assisting with demonstrations and events, and maintaining high standards of cleanliness.
You will hold a relevant qualification in Food Technology, Catering or a related subject, have GCSE English and Maths (or equivalent), and be a reliable team player with strong organisational skills and the ability to support a safe and positive learning environment.
Main Duties and Responsibilities:
- Prepare, organise and maintain food ingredients, equipment and resources for practical sessions, including setup and clearing.
- Provide technical support to staff and students, including those with additional needs, to support a positive learning environment.
- Ensure all kitchen areas are safe, clean and compliant with health, safety and food hygiene regulations, including regular and annual deep cleaning.
- Manage stock levels, including ordering, supplier liaison and safe storage of ingredients in line with HACCP.
- Maintain equipment, report faults and support demonstrations, events and curriculum activities.
Required Skills and Experience:
- Is qualified to at least A Level or equivalent in Food Technology, Catering or a related subject and preferably has studied up to graduate level.
- Holds English and Maths GCSE or equivalent.
