Salary: Scale points 6 - 10 (£25,322 - 26,560)

Holiday: 24 Days per year, rising to 30 days following 5 years’ service (Plus Bank holidays and Christmas closure)

Newcastle and Stafford Colleges Group (NSCG) is one of the very best colleges in the country. In October 2024 we became the first and only further education provider in England to achieve a full set of outstanding grades in consecutive Ofsted Inspections.

The group is currently home to a population of over 6,500 full-time students with around 2000 adult learners and students on higher education programmes. We have over 1,500 apprentices where we work with over 850 individual employers.

We are looking for suitably qualified individuals to join our pro-active, dynamic and friendly team of construction staff. The successful candidate will be required to provide effective and efficient day to day technical and stores support to the Skills and Technology Centre, with specific focus on Trowel Trades.

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

  • To ensure that all Trowel Trades equipment is maintained in a safe working condition carrying out general, routine and breakdown maintenance where he/she is qualified to do so.
  • To prepare and maintain Trowel Trades tools and equipment for workshop use in a safe and usable condition.
  • To be responsible as required for the safety, tidiness and general appearance of the Centre's stores and workshops.
  • To be trained to current legislation in the use of appropriate machinery and be confident in their use.
  • To be responsible for Health, Safety and wellbeing to all users within the Trowel Trades area and undertake the associated risk assessments and Health and Safety reporting.

Required Skills and Experience:

  • Has qualifications at Level 2 or relevant skills in the Construction area.
  • Demonstrates a high level of initiative and the ability to manage and prioritise his/her own workload to a significant degree.
  • Has good communication skills and the ability to relate to all staff and students in a professional manner.
