Curriculum Leader in Vocational Business

Location: Newcastle-under-Lyme College Site
Hours: Full time
Salary: £36,864 – £47,133 per annum depending on experience and qualifications

Newcastle and Stafford Colleges Group (NSCG) is one of the very best colleges in the country. The group is currently home to a population of over 6,500 full‑time students with around 2000 adult learners and students on higher education programmes. We have over 1,500 apprentices where we work with over 850 individual employers. Our Sixth Form provision has a reputation for high academic achievement and excellence.

We are looking for an enthusiastic, suitably qualified individual with relevant experience to teach on our outstanding business courses and specifically lead on our BTEC Level Three Second Year programme that has approximately 95 student enrolments. You will play a crucial role in realising the department\’s strategic objectives. You will be an inspiring lecturer with a background in delivering Vocational Business and the ability to deliver varied, high quality and imaginative sessions and have a record of good achievement rates.

You will be teaching across a range of units on various vocational business programmes, however will have specific curriculum leader responsibilities for the 2nd year of BTEC Level Three Business. Topics range from finance, branding, visual merchandising, team building and many others. Our ideal candidate will be an inspiring lecturer who has a proven record of innovation and a pro‑active approach to delivery including Vocational Level 2, Level 3 and T‑Level activity in Business. You will have also demonstrated an understanding and sensitivity towards the needs of your learners and use this to help them reach their true potential.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

  • Deliver a flexible and innovative curriculum that is responsive to feedback from current learners and anticipates likely changes in demand from future learners.
  • To deliver excellent teaching, learning and assessment processes. A proportion of which may be remote teaching, learning and assessment via appropriate platforms where required.
  • Undertake the day‑to‑day co‑ordination of staff within the course team so that the College can achieve its overall objective of being excellent in all areas.

Required Skills and Experience

  • Teaching qualification (PGCE or DTTLS).
  • A proven record of delivering teaching and learning to a consistently high standard.
  • Able to communicate effectively with students and peers.
  • Detailed knowledge and understanding of current teaching practice within the curriculum area.
