Main Duties And Responsibilities
- Make contact with parents/guardians/carers of tutees within the first 6 weeks of the new academic year and throughout the course to introduce the role, discuss progress, issues and attendance.
- Effective use of the College monitoring system to implement appropriate support and take action at an early stage.
- Provide support to students with personal, domestic or social difficulties and signpost them to additional support where appropriate.
- Promote effective achievement and retention through target setting and review using their Individual Learning Plan (ILP) and effective 1:1s.
- Conduct effective tutorial activities.
- Promote acceptable learner behaviour, attendance, punctuality and progress.
Required Skills And Experience
- Experience of working in a tutor capacity role or equivalent (Desirable).
- Hold English & Maths GCSE or equivalent.
- Able to develop a good rapport with 16–19 year‑old learners both in a group and on a one‑to‑one basis.
- Experience of working with Higher Education / UCAS application processes (Desirable).
