Newcastle and Stafford Colleges Group (NSCG) is one of the very best colleges in the country. The group is currently home to a population of over 6,500 full-time students with around 2000 adult learners and students on higher education programmes. We have over 1,500 apprentices where we work with over 850 individual employers. Our Sixth Form provision has a reputation for high academic achievement and excellence.

The Arts faculty has outstanding results, consistently achieving above national average with positive value added. The faculty includes a range of Art courses which enable students to progress to a wide range of excellent destinations.

We are looking for individuals with the ability to deliver Art & Design and 3D Modelling based content across relevant courses on our Level 3 BTEC Art and Design Practice pathway in Games, Animation and Concept Art. Ideally you will have good 2D and 3D rendering skills and an ability to contribute to projects including aspects of visual studies. You may be asked to deliver across our different Art pathways based on annual need.

The successful candidate will ideally have experience of teaching on Art or Games Art courses, or have relevant experience working within the UK’s creative industries. The successful candidate will be an energetic, creative and pro-active individual who has the digital and practical skills to inspire learners and provide them with a robust foundation of skills which will support their progression and also contribute to the growth of the Arts Faculty/courses in a positive and pro-active manner.

You will have an appropriate subject qualification to degree or equivalent. You will also hold or be studying for a relevant teaching qualification (DTLLS, PGCE or equivalent).

Main Duties Of The Post Holder Are:

  • To teach and assess on courses including Games and Animation.
  • Play an active role in the marketing of the College and the Department through such activities as open days and through liaison with local employers and schools.
  • Engage in core duties including preparation, marking, carrying out assessment procedures and providing feedback to support student progress, preparing reports, developing and preparing flexible learning materials.

Required Skills And Experience:

  • Has a relevant teaching qualification (PGCE (PCET) or equivalent) or willingness to train for one.
  • Ideally has experience of teaching Games and Concept Art, research areas, developmental studies and application.
  • Ideally has relevant teaching experience within the FE sector or experience of working in the UK’s creative industries sector.
